Drug Information

Celecoxib is a non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drug, available as capsules containing 50 mg, 100 mg, 200 mg and 400 mg celecoxib for oral administration. Celecoxib is hydrophobic in nature thus, becomes insoluble when in contact with any aqueous mediums.

Celecoxib, sold under the brand name Celebrex among others. It is used to treat the pain and inflammation of ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, acute pain in adults, painful menstruation, rheumatoid arthritis as well as juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

Why is it prescribed

CELEBREX is indicated in the following conditions mostly;

a. Osteoarthritis (OA)

The prescribed drug is used for the management of the signs and symptoms of OA. It is the most common chronic (long-lasting) joint condition.

b. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

The prescribed drug is used for the management of the signs and symptoms of RA. It is an autoimmune disease that can cause joint pain and damage throughout your body.

c. Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA)

The prescribed drug is used for the management of the signs and symptoms of JRA, also known as juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). It is a category of arthritis that eventually results in joint inflammation or stiffness for duration of more than six weeks in cases of children aged 16 or younger. Apparently, the disease affects on an average of 50,000 children in the United States.

d. Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS)

f. Primary Dysmenorrhea

How to use Celebrex

You may consume the tablet with water, before or after meals as instructed by your doctor. If you have an upset stomach, do consider taking it with food. What if I Miss a Dose or Overdose
