  • Why is Janumet Medication Prescribed?

This medicine is used either alone or with other medications, together with insulin, in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Janumet (Metformin) helps in controlling the amount of glucose in the blood, and decreases the amount of glucose absorbed from food and made by the liver. It helps in increasing the body’s response to insulin. However, this medicine is not used while treating type 1 diabetes.

  • How Should Janumet Medicine be used?

Available in tablet, liquid and extended-release tablet, Janumet (Metformin) can be taken orally. Take liquid with meals once or twice a day, tablet with meals twice or thrice a day and the extended-release tablet once every day with the evening meal.

  • What Should I do if I Forget a Dose?

In case you forget a dose, take the medicine as soon as you remember. However, if your next dose is close, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double dose of this medicine.

  • What Side Effects can Janumet Cause?

Inform your doctor if you experience side effects such as bloating, indigestion, metallic taste in the mouth, headache, muscle pain, flushing of the skin, chest pain or rash.
